One popular meditation trick that I like to use, is called the going down in an elevator Meditation Mantra. In this meditation:

You start by picturing yourself in an elevator.

The doors close and the elevator starts going down.

You count down from 100 to 1 as you go down.

With each number that you count, you picture the floors passing by, and with each floor, you clear your mind. I take deep breaths with each level down and say to myself “you are getting into a deeper, more relaxing state of meditation.”

For beginners, or those who are taking a long layoff from Meditation, I would recommend starting with a ten floor elevator. From here, you are making the game winnable so that you stick with it. Start with a ten floor elevator, then move up to 20, then 50, and then 100, then a 10 floor elevator, followed by a 100 floor elevator. Getting to this level with something like a binaural beats soundtrack on is quite literally going to be a 30 minute or more meditation, so it will take some practice to get here.
